The castle weekend – in Velenje and Litija

This weekend was one of those days that my most beloved activities combine. :) On Saturday I went to Velenje to the meetup of Slovenian tourist country clubs. I was the presenter of online marketing in tourism. Of all speakers I was the one with the longest speech. How about that?! :D I felt a good vibe in the conference room among the participants and that one hour passed really quickly. They were very pleased with my presentation and so was me. I get a tone of energy everytime I present and each time I learn how much I enjoy in what I am doing. Yeah!

After the official part of the meetup I converted from a web marketing specialist to a domestic tourist. :D Oh God I looove being one. :D I decided to visit the castle and the lakes. What a good decision I made!

The castle looks magnificient. I was kind of dissapointed because no coffe shop is there and practically no offer whatsoever. you can visit an exhibition but I am not pretty interested in exhibitions … and neither are two who work there.

When I drove to the lake Velenje I was very surprised: it is huge! I had no idea that there is such a big lake. And I must say it really cares fot the visitors: the beach, bars, supping, windsurfing and many other mass tourism activities. I went to more peaceful part of the lake because I do not like to lay down and be steady all day. :) I found a beautiful vintage pier, an empty swan nest and a lovely little wooden bridge. Near Velenje are actually 3 lakes: Velenjsko, Škalsko and Družmirsko. The second one is smaller and much more likeable with only a few visitors (I think there were more swans than visitors :) ). I did not went to the lake with a complicated name. :)

Sunday was the cycling day. I went to my friend’s to Litija to have an active day on a bike. This has become one of my favourite activities. Discovering little treasures in Slovenia on two wheels. :) First destination was the Bogenšperk castle, and due to its slope we had to work for it! :D And I was quicker than my friend. Hihi ;) When we descended back to the valley my tyre broke … At first we thought that this the end of our adventure but he fixed it and we went on. Alltogether we biked over 63 km.
