45th Nature and Health Fair in Ljubljana

Today I attended the 45th Nature–Health Fair, placed in Exhibition and Convention Centre. I must say I am fond of fairs similar to this. Every time I find something interesting to taste or even to buy. And this Convention centre is approximetaly a few hundred meters from where I live. :P

The stands were placed in 3 halls and the biggest challenge was passing between two halls: everybody was lurking on the visitors with promo materials in their hands … almost shouting at us offering mainly most useless items ever. :P The first time that I crossed “the front line” a young woman pushed some paper to my hands, but from second time on I learned how to avoid them. What’s my trick? Pretending you don’t see them, and not even thinking about looking in their eyes. :P It’s like on the markets in Arabic world, you just have to ignore them. Rough? Yes, but efficient. :P

I had a feeling that everybody working there had the one and only mission: to sell as much as they could. Mostly using hard sell. OK, let us be straight here, of course they don’t pay a lot of money to be presented there just because “marketers say you should attend these kind of fairs”. I know that the bottom line is sales. But it is the approach that disturbs me, the preying looks in their eyes and pushy voices.

On the other hand on some stands sellers were indescribably bored. :D Those were the ones working in public institutions, not afraid to lose their jobs or at least not payed accordingly to sales.

Stop whining, you might say. :P OK, surely there were some positive things, too. For the first time I tried a tasty vegetable smoothie! :) it was made of carrots, beetroot and another ingridient, I don’t remember. I wanted to buy chia seeds and I did. By Malinca, which is a young and a very successful brand selling natural food. The seeds were pretty expensive, but now at least I have a shopping experience that I wanted. Buying from Malinca, I mean. And it was positive, I even got a mini present. :)

Just before I left fair, Santa stopped me. :D Yes, Santa. He invited me to join a prize competition to win a 3-day vacation in Bled. Of course I filled out the form, it couldn’t hurt, could it? :)
